JUNGIAN LECTURE: Psyche & Eros: A Mythic Roadmap for Soulful Recovery through Pandemic Times

by Kira Celeste, PhD

How is the ancient Greek myth of Psyche, a mortal-turned-goddess, relevant to our lived experiences in our communities today --particularly in the time of Covid-19? Through an evening of storytelling and discussion, Dr Celeste answers this riddle using depth psychology to describe or deconstruct several aspects of Psyche’s myth as inspiration. This story is about two jealous sisters and the aid of tiny creatures coming to the rescue to help with impossible tasks and entails a fair bit of enchantment. The word Psychology means “the study of Psyche” and that is what we will be doing in this conversational evening together. Let’s explore how this mythic roadmap to consciousness and healing can assist us in recovering from the toll of the pandemic in our own modern lives.
Note: Kira will be offering two follow-up sessions to explore and apply this lecture on a more personalized level. If interested, please email cvjungsociety@gmail.com for more info.
