About the Speaker
Deborah Bryon, Ph.D. , NCPsyA, has degrees in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, a B.F.A. in Drawing, and is a Jungian Analyst and art therapist. Deborah is an artist and author, as well as an educator in psychology, neuropsychology, depth psychology and shamanism. Dr. Bryon is the author of three books - Lessons of the Inca Shamans, Part I: Piercing the Veil (Pine Winds Press, 2012), Lessons of the Inca Shamans, Part II: Beyond the Veil (Pine Winds Press, 2014), and Time and trauma in analytical psychology and psychotherapy: The wisdom of Andean shamanism (Routledge, 2024). Recent chapters and articles she has published recently include; “The Beauty of the Women in Willem de Kooning’s Paintings”. Journal of Analytical Psychology. This presentation weaves together interpersonal and Jungian analytic perspectives, informed by indigenous Andean shamanism and contemporary scientific understanding of time in an exploration of a more expansive vision of the world. Dr. Bryon provides different perspectives on experiences central to contemporary depth psychology, such as the subjective experience of time and trauma. She draws on her experience as a Jungian psychoanalyst as well as her immersion in Andean shamanistic practice.
Jungian analyst and psychologist Deborah Bryon offers Andean shamanic wisdom as it dovetails with concepts from contemporary relational psychoanalysis. After being adopted and inducted by Peruvian paqos, Bryon seamlessly combines her personal experience with theoretical concepts to highlight practices of connection and compassion. Her bold weaving together of interpersonal and Jungian analytic perspectives, informed by Indigenous Andean shamanism and contemporary scientific understanding of time, invites the reader into an expansive, enriched vision of the world.
